I went from an easy, hurried, low-maintenance facial cleaning ritual to trying out the Asian 10 step skincare routine. Being raised in New York City has damaged and polluted my skin; I'm now repairing and focusing on anti-aging.
I want to buy and use products from a broad number of brands, I didn't just want to stick with one brand, I shopped around and compared all. I will try to write reviews each month, one which will be a list my skincare routine products, sharing my experiences on each product.

Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Cream

Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Cream

I received this product complimentary from 0.8L and Benton in exchange for my honest opinion. I got this product for free from 0.8L and Benton in exchange for my honest opinion.

As we all know, summer is coming to an end and my favorite season of autumn is coming.
I've already started to buy all the pumpkin spice food things that I see. You know what that means for skincare, we will need more layers - well, I do because I have dry skin. Cacao is great for the skin during the winter because it locks in the moisture. It is rich in polyphernois, which are antioxidants.

This is my first Benton product. I like the squeeze tube instead of a jar since it's a cream. It's good for all skin types and it's lightweight so it's great for all seasons. However, my mom has oily skin and it just sat on top of her skin so I'm assuming that this isn't suitable for oily skin. I do like that it has botanic plant extracts which leads to no fragrance scent. The texture isn't thick so it absorbs into the skin. Overall, it is a lightweight texture which is suitable for summer. Its naturally derived mild formula allows it to have a moist finish which leads to a good water-oil balance.

Chicago 2017 Trip

This is my 400th Review on my blog!! I'm excited that it's a trip review! I went to the Windy City (Chicago for the first time and I enjoyed it. I would be back to this lovely city!

It was raining when I board the plane, so you can see that I made a face.
When arrived, I brought a 3-Day CTA pass to use the subway for $20.
I went to Chinatown the next morning and was surprised on how big it was.
It's full of culture and authentic food. I wasn't able to try the DIMSUM like I wanted to because the wait was 45 minutes in the morning.
Instead I walked over to the candy store of my childhood!!

I got all the matcha candy in the store! Very little for $10.

I went to buy an overpriced but yummy donut at Do-Rite Donuts near the hotel that I was staying at. The flavor was pistachio lemon and it was thick and delicious.

At night, we were craving for sushi and went to JellyFish and ordered sushi!
We got the (from top to bottom) Veggie Delight Roll, Crazy Veggie Roll, Crabby Eel roll, Torched Salmon roll (the best out of 4),

Did touristy things the next day while visiting Millenium Park to see the "bean".

Food trunks along the park!! I got the Canadian poutine. Very average, but I wanted to eat it.

The next morning, we went to Beatrix for brunch and got Steak and Eggs, Cripsy Kale Salad, Rainbow Toast, Hummus. Sadly to sad, but I ended the Rainbow Toast the best. The steak and eggs were a bit pricey for what was given.
Next we went to visit Navy Pier and I ordered the Chicago-styled hotdog. It's just more salty and sour.
I wanted curly fires!

The Buckingham Fountain. This picture doesn't do it justice.
For dinner, I went to Imperial Lamien to try the instagram famous "combination xiao long bao".
It had flavors such as gruyere cheese, crab, truffle, duck, spicy szechuan and shanghai. Just picture worthy and taste wise it's just average.
This is the combination vegetarian. This was much better than the steamed combination. Just saying.

For late night snack, we went to the pub near us to get the famous "Irish Nachos" that we saw on Man vs Food while at the hotel. These were good!
The next morning, we had our last meal (brunch) at Lyft Kitchen. This is the Avocado Spinach Fritata with roasted potatos.

Overall, the "windy City" gave me the perfect weather for this trip and I will definitely visit again! This reminded me of NYC but the sales tax really scared me. 10.25% is very steep and it limited me from going crazy shopping. I only got a pair of sandals at DSW and a blouse at Nordstorm Rack. Plus they also charge for bags - plastic- 7 cents and paper-14 cents.

MAC Lightful 2-in-1 with Radiance Booster Tinted Serum

MAC Lightful 2-in-1 with Radiance Booster Tinted Serum

The skincare serum is a bit thick for the summer but the foundation serum is perfect for the summer if you want light coverage.

It's best to use the serum for overnight. This product also helps eliminates dark spots and pigmentation.

Overall, it's a light coverage tint and looks natural.

LapothCell Natural Mineral Sun Protection

LapothCell Natural Mineral Sun Protection

This is a nice creamy sunscreen that you must rub in to get rid of the white cast.
I usually put it on and wait about 20 minutes while enjoying the scent and then put foundation on my face.

I used this on my trip in the Caribbean and it was wonderful.

Sephora Play Box September 2017 - my last one!!!

Fall Into Beauty
A Change of Face

After a year and two months, it's time to cancel and move to another subscription box.
Sometimes I wished that they gave products that were catered to owns skin considering that we have a skincare/makeup profile attached to our Sephora Play account.

  1. Benefit Cosmetics - Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in Deep
  2. Sephora Collection - Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproff in Black Lace - who doesn't love a black eyeliner
  3. Algenist - Power Recharging Night Pressed Serum - this was interesting, it was a lightweight night cream that you have to dig into the container to scoop some out but it melts right into your face. I really liked this one too.
  4. Urban Decay - Vice Liquid Lipstick in Amulet - I'm not mad about this color, but I think I made have too many of this dusty rose color.
  5. Belief - The True Cream Aqua Bomb - I love this cream but I must have got in about 5 times in the past 14 play boxes.
  6. Bonus - Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisble Oil Shampoo and Conditioner - I know that some people thought that perfumes were a pain but I prefer perfumes over one-time use of shampoo and conditoners.

I gotta be honest, this bag was the best that I've had so far and I see myself using all the products, but it's too late in the game (after 14 boxes) and sad to say but I'm cancelling.

BoxyCharm September 2017 review

BoxyCharm September 2017
Boxy Baddie

This is my first Boxycharm and I loved it!

  1. PUR Cosmetics Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette - I have worn this everyday to work since I've got it. I love the shimmer colors. The pigmentation is amazing.
  2. MAC Cosmetics Eyebrow Pencil - With this product that I've got, I started to do my eyebrows and everyone has complimented me since.
  3. Studio Makeup Luminous Loose Blush - I thought that I wouldn't like this, but the color is so beautiful on my light skin.
  4. bareMinerals Perfecting Face Foundation Brush - I don't mind it but I rarely use foundation brushes because I love cushion foundations so much. But it's OK to not like 1 out of 6 products.
  5. Briogeo Don't Despair Repair Hair Mask - I love this hair conditioner, I've used it before from a deluxe sample from Sephora but was too scared to buy the full sized product because of the price.
  6. ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip - this would be my first colourPop product and my first satin lip product. I've never been able to buy my first colourpop item because I never felt the need, but now I can try it and see if the products are right for me.
